So when I moved over to a HP monitor with the new graphics card I didn't hold out much hope. My last toe dip into the world of a Dell monitor with an older 1.2 Display port didn't go well, I failed to get any sort of adapter that worked. It had a HDMI, a DVI and a pair of Display Port outputs. I assumed my 1060 gfx card had 3 HDMI connections or a spare VGA etc. I've decided to treat myself to a 3 monitor setup and stupidly bought the extra monitor (I had one that I used, and an old one under the bed) without checking how they would connect. The Bag contained 1x Display port (1.4) to HDMI cable. This Cable arrived well packaged in a plastic bag. I returned my Ugreen cable to Amazon simply stating that the performance was not adequate for my needs. However, for users who want full HDMI 2.0 support look for an an active adaptor using the PS176 chipset. For 1080P output it is a very capable, well made, active adaptor cable. It is not that the Ugreen cable is a bad cable. The PS176 chipset is amazing and my eyes really appreciate the difefrence. What a difference in the display, I now have full 60HZ all the way up to 4096 x 2160. I went for the most compact (limited space on my mini desktop) and robust looking one and ordered it. A couple of years ago Parade announced a new, HDMI 2.0 compatible, chipset, the PS176 and I found a couple of adaptors on Amazon that contained this chipset. The chipset was announced in October 2012 and is now getting long in the tooth. This Ugreen cable uses the over half decade old Parade PS8402A chipset to convert the signal from DP to HDMI. This is below the refresh rate required for 'persistence' of vision' and it was obvious when working that the display seemed to constantly flicker. However, even though this is an active cable, the maximum refresh rate I could obtain in either Windows 10 or Linux, was 24HZ. I have purchased a lot of technology from Ugreen and their quality is excellent and I trusted that it would support the advertised 4K at 30HZ output. I bought this cable to facilitate connecting my HP PC, which has 2 displayport and no HDMI outputs, to a 4K monitor.
